Having read Dr. Mims’ article introducing about podcasting, I tried one last night. Successfully installed, downloaded, and listened to the podcast, I couldn’t say I was really appealed to it now. The barriers to prevent me loving it are the pursers that I use it and contents of the podcasting.
I used to listen to podcasting when I was a college student. Podcasting was an effective way to practice my English learning and entertain myself. Every weekend I stayed at home and downloaded interesting English radio program into my MP3 player. During the weekdays, I listened to the programs and I was enjoyed.
And now I can access to Internet everyday and search the contents whenever. So, I sold my MP3. I don’t need that anymore.
Podcasting doesn’t fit into my situation now. It found another way—podcasting at work. From the replies to Dr. Mims’ article, I know podcasting will play an interesting role in corporate world. There are three factors to help podcasting work.
1. There is a large group of audiences, who listen to the podcasting regularly, providing feedback and discussion about the contents.
2. There is a small group of dedicated people to develop the podcasting and to make the contents interesting and useful.
3. Contents matters. Both the developers and audiences have great interest in the contents. Audiences believe contests can meet their needs and develops can help.
Now I need to find out my needs and to see if podcasting can help me.
