Follow Students’ Interest or Guide Their Interest? (尾随学生兴趣还是引领学生兴趣?)
I am reflecting on the question ‘What’s wrong with my teaching?’ ‘Why is my teaching rather ineffective in my own terms although I am always busy in solving the students’ problems?’
I need to reconsider my general approach to teaching.
The following questions are asked in my reconsideration of my teaching approach:
(1) Shall I follow and satisfy the students’ interests?
(2) Shall I guide, expand and create the students’ interests?
Which is more important?
(3) Shall I achieve a relative balance between the former and the latter with a priority for the latter?
(4) How shall I achieve this?
These questions would lead me to my further consideration of the relationship between teacher autonomy in teaching and learner autonomy in learning.
